ABSTRACT

This chapter will highlight how a consulting approach with an organisation in Jakarta helped a top management team within the organisation realise their journey and their goal as being attainable and utilise their strengths to help them achieve it. I will share my experience of working with an Indonesian company, whose top management wanted my help to ‘motivate’ their team to grow the company. The chapter describes how a solution focused consulting and team coaching process was used to help the management team see their desired future in the vision, mission and goals of the company. The Indonesians are very visually creative people, and using their talents during training, and especially in answering the miracle question with creative methods, had a positive impact on the team. Visualising the miracle question can be helpful to reach every layer of a company, since it doesn’t differentiate between levels of education, amount of knowledge or position in the company. As a result of this process, the individual team members recognised their own existing strengths and the importance of their own role in the bigger picture of the success and growth of the company and reaching their goals
