ABSTRACT

The power to detect added paths can be directly calculated in many multipurpose statistics programs. Specifically, the power to detect added paths is

where P is the cumulative probability function for a ffl2 distribution with a given df and noncentrality parameter –, and ffl2df ;¸ is the critical value from a central ffl

with a given df and significance level (¸). The – value is the resulting ffl2 value from fitting the the original model to the covariances generated with the alternative model. Also note that probability for power requires calculating the complement of the cumulative probability function (i.e., the probability to the right of a value).
