ABSTRACT

Working clinically with children and adolescents in groups can be both a challenging and rewarding endeavor, arising from the inherent power of groups and the reality that much of the cognitive and emotional development of youth occurs in a social context. Because of the complexities that accompany the enterprise, competent and effective group therapists working with youth should approach practice with an awareness of ethical principles and guidelines, and how to apply them to clinical realities, as well as having a firm foundation in the legal issues that can be encountered.
