ABSTRACT
What is safeguarding? ‘Safeguarding’ is a relatively new term, which has developed from child protection issues and resulted in enactment of legislation in the UK. It refers to an all-encompassing proactive approach to keeping children (and vulnerable adults) safe from harm or abuse. This is a multi-stranded concept that reaches beyond basic child protection.
