‘Election disputes' or disputed elections?

This chapter provides an analysis of the role played by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in furthering the democratic process since the turn of the twenty-first century. While Pakistan’s judiciary played a significant part in compelling the country’s transition from military to civil rule, it has ultimately failed to ensure the fairness of elections or to defuse the political confrontations between the country’s largest political parties.
