ABSTRACT
Thus, while it remains possible that the Desert of Sanctions Thesis and the Reactive Attitudes Thesis are linked only by a third set of facts that makes them both true, I believe that there is good reason to pursue the idea that they are more directly linked by the very nature of the presupposition of the reactive attitudes. And we can see that accepting both theses, linked in this way, and with desert itself linked to fairness, albeit in a subtle way, provides us with an appealing explanatory unity.
