ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts discussed in this book. The book disseminates the ideas of the German Historical School (GHS) and its legacy in Europe is another indicator of a certain resurgence of interest which arises from an increased uneasiness about the development of modern mainstream economics aiming at imitating the sciences, although the validity of economic models is contingent on time and space. There never exists a German monopoly of the historical and ethical approach to economics. The process of diffusion of the ideas of the German Historical School shows that they have multiple meanings adapted to the conditions and economic and social needs of the country of adaptation. Several of the contributions focus on individuals as important carriers of the dissemination process. This sometimes has more the flavour of "German influences" than of a precise analysis of the diffusion, impact and legacy of the GHS.
