ABSTRACT
In this paper, I show how the founder of pragmatism, C.S. Peirce, meets what I consider are the marks of a truly great philosopher. Roughly, those are (i) originality, depth, and the development of novel and important positions or traditions, (ii) breadth, and (iii) influence on the course of the history of thought.
