ABSTRACT

The chapter focuses on research carried out between 2004 and 2010, to meet the needs of the Slovenian Ministry of Defence, since during that period financial aid for defence research and development reached its peak. Historically, defence systems were more familiar with internal research systems, the most common of which being the in-house research institution. The Research Branch of American War Department was one of the most broadly known institutions of this kind and where the famous studies in social psychology, known as American Soldier, took place during World War II. The MOD expected each research team to have a written public presentation and an oral internal presentation for the staff. One of the requirements was for the Slovenian defence system to redefine its budget for research and technological development. Before 1991, civilian research institutions in Slovenia lacked experience cooperating with military institution.
