ABSTRACT

The contributions to this chapter illustrates, how a range of humanitarian work psychology (HWP) expertise has made very useful contributions to the accomplishment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The advent of (HWP) identifies psychology as a responsive profession and discipline poised to contribute to the new goals in a more systematic and arguably impactful way means achieving success in a different field or style, in addition to one's own. Finally, the chapter argues that (HWP) is poised to make at least three major crossover contributions to the post-Millennium Development Goal (MDG) agenda: (1) by showing how organizational variables moderate and mediate the relationship between global plans and everyday local aspirations; (2) by exploring how concepts from business, such as brand, can sustainably crossover from profit to non-profit domains; and (3) by switching from single to double and triple loop problem solving to provide more reflexivity in developing sustainable systems.
