ABSTRACT

Wolf-Dieter Zumpfort, a member of the board of Touristik Union International, the largest

travel business in the world, and until 2003 chairman of Collegium, the prestigious associ-

ation of lobbyists, is one of the few high-ranking tourism players who has admitted to

being a lobbyist. During an interview he commented on the image of lobbying:

In the hierarchy of the professions professors and parsons are at the top and poli-

ticians, journalists and lobbyists at the very bottom. But that doesn’t bother me.
