ABSTRACT
Do you know what kills more children than malaria, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis combined? Diarrhea. So why have we all heard so much more about the former diseases? Likely because diarrhea is disgusting and no one wants to talk about it-though the U.N. recently launched a campaign against open defecation, which contributes to the water contamination that causes diarrhea. As this example shows, the problems that get solved in our world today are not necessarily those that are most pressing. Rather, they are the issues that public relations practitioners like you and me take up and fight to get on the social and political agenda.
