ABSTRACT

The District Information Modelling (DIM) is introduced which relies upon the integration between Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with real-time data, trying to create a prototype of tool that simplifies the visualization and management of data and the analysis of energy consumption in Smart City district. This study is part of two ongoing Smart City research studies, an EU VII Framework Program project named District Information Modelling and Management for Energy Reduction (DIMMER) and a national cluster project named Zero Energy Buildings in Smart Urban Districts (EEB). The development of a DIM model is needed in order to optimize energy efficiency, monitoring the whole energy consumption and production process through information and communications technology (ICT). The BIM is a model involving all the information and management of the digital representation of construction which uses the ICT platform for control and monitoring; GIS is comprehensive system that can refer to a number of different processes and technologies.
