ABSTRACT

The chapters in this part introduce a discussion of how the Gulf countries are museuming1 by using culture as well as enhancing national identity and pride among their citizens. Accordingly, the Gulf countries are demonstrating their culture by hosting different cultural and heritage events and, for example, by constructing visual displays. The narratives of national development in the Gulf are reected, highlighted and analysed in order to disseminate knowledge about social progress and national development through visual encounters (Neurath and Cohen 1973: 215).
