Community Resource Teams: a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team approach to community problem solving in Wisconsin

ByKelly Haverkampf, Connie Coley Loden

Community Resource Teams (CRT) is a community assessment and visioning program developed by Wisconsin Rural Partners, Inc. (WRP) in response to rural community needs expressed at its 1998 statewide rural summit. Through a facilitated process at the summit, community leaders recommended that WRP ‘‘create broadbased, interagency, cooperative approaches to problem solving and community development’’ (WRP, 1998). This article touches on the key concepts that contributed to creating the successful program, discusses some of the results experienced by participating communities and team members, and provides some lessons learned so that other organizations contemplating similar programs can use it as a model.
