Eight years ago, I was given the privilege to lead the California Community Foundation (CCF) in Los Angeles County. As a long-time public policy advocate, I jumped at the chance. My work at the Mexican American Legal Defense & Educational Fund had provided me a platform to advance the Latino Community at the national level through litigation, advocacy, and education. I now had the chance to apply what I had learned in a place I loved: Los Angeles. To me, the work would not be much different, but I would have additional resources to apply locally.
