ABSTRACT

The Bodies of Film Club was formed in 2015 and is a collaborative project that explores disability representation in film. Club membership includes principal researcher, research assistant and five young adults who identify or have been identified with a developmental or intellectual disability. Using innovative methodologies, the club analyzes films with a disability theme by reflecting on their own lived experience, creating meaningful critical inquiry. Since its inception, the club has expanded its membership, become fully inclusive and has been invited to various film festivals and conferences in British Columbia, Canada to discuss film and disability.
