The competitiveness of a region depends on the entrepreneurship and innovation embedded within a society. Increasingly more regions are focusing on entrepreneurial innovation as a source of their competitiveness but also to connect with Knowledge Intensive Business Services. This is due to regions requiring entrepreneurial thinking but also innovative sources in order to differentiation their geographic area from competing regions (Ferreira, Fernandes and Raposo, 2015). The case study analysis is premised on the entrepreneurial innovation literature to discuss how institutions, social and industry context affect regional economic growth. The research questions that are address in this chapter are: (1) what institutions affect entrepreneurial innovation in the Gold Coast? (2) how does the social context drive entrepreneurial innovation and regional development in the Gold Coast? and (3) how do industry and technology within the Gold Coast affect regional competitiveness? To answer these questions, a case study method is used to study the Gold Coast region of Australia.
