ABSTRACT
Here is an idea that I think many philosophers would find congenial. Sentences are complexes with words as constituents. Sentences have a structure, and this structure is a key ingredient of their meaning as can be seen from the fact that there are distinct sentences with identical constituents as in:
(1) John loves Mary. (2) Mary loves John.
