ABSTRACT

On a Platonic basis an explanation of the world, in general, and of human nature, in particular, would seem to be in terms of either: (1) soul or (2) matter; or (3) both soul and matter. The second option would have been anathema to Plato. The purpose of this chapter is to explore in detail the first, panpsychist option, in contrast to the more familiar claim that Plato was a dualist.
