ABSTRACT
The MTF survey also examines drug use among different socio demographic groups and has found that males show much higher rates of drug use than females. This is to be expected as males have higher overall delinquency rates than females. When examining drug use among different racial/ethnic groups, the MTF indicates that Hispanics have the highest rates of use of marijuana and drugs included in the “dan gerous” category, such as heroin with a needle, crack, and crystal methamphetamine. Whites have the highest rates of use of inhalants, hal lucinogens, narcotics, and ecstasy. Finally, the MTF indicates that African-Americans have the lowest rates of use for all substances (John son et al., 2003).
