As a class full of fourth graders sang and danced “Bow, Bow Oh Belinda,” a young girl named Asra1 sang while she kept the steady beat on a hand drum. Each time I asked if she wanted to switch instruments she would shyly look up at me and shake her head. I could see her foot tapping the beat and every so often she would bounce a little or mimic the moves of the dance.
