ABSTRACT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for psychosis is now well established as part of standard evidence-based practice and in some settings is the only psychological therapy that is supported. For this approach that mobilizes the resources of the team to enable recovery for this hard to treat and hard to reach group and outline it in this chapter. In terms of the contribution of Team-Based Cognitive Therapy (TBCT) to this process, the aim is to target the in-situation belief rather than the more usual CBT target of the client pan-situational beliefs. Our approach to TBCT is continually evolving. It is a ready vehicle for incorporating new developments in CBT and as we show here can be utilized effectively by focusing on different components. It is hoped that this will facilitate further development and refinement of TBCT, increase the effectiveness of the approach and, in turn, further support service users in their recovery.
