Pages 12

This chapter addresses the ways in which day laborers attempt to cope with precarious employment conditions in the context of informal shipbuilding activities in Perama, a suburb of western Piraeus. I focus on how workers conceive of their involvement in local labor processes and in the social relations that emerge from, or are consolidated through their efforts to make ends meet.
