The protest began around 10 am, when a group of residents gathered outside the Olympic Estate police station in Kibera-a large informal settlement in Nairobi, Kenya-to demand that a corrupt officer be reassigned from the district. Demonstrators burned tires, shook the gates of the police compound, and held up signs calling for the officer to go.
