ABSTRACT

The fact is that training and education in entrepreneurship represents one of the earliest and most significant successes of the modern postsecondary educational system. The impact is evident today in terms of the numbers of people taking entrepreneurship education or training. In the United States alone, nearly 125,000 individuals annually take entrepreneurship classes in colleges or universities. Another 125,000 each year take collegiate courses in the related area of small business. In terms of training, in fiscal year 2003, 687,000 people were trained or given one-on-one counseling by the Small Business Development Centers,1 while 473,000 more received help from the Service Corps of Retired Executives.2
