ABSTRACT

It is well known that bleeding sap is from root pressure, therefore the root physiological changes will affect the outflow of bleeding sap and contents (Shen and Mao, 2011). The bleeding sap contains organic and inorganic compounds such as minerals, sugars, plant hormones and siRNA that might act as signals in the connection of underground and aboveground organs (Lucas et al., 2001; Qi et al., 2006). These compounds transporting through xylem and phloem have some impacts on fruit quality. However, it is still obscure how dissimilar grafting rootstocks influence on nutrient translocation of bleeding sap in muskmelon. By analyzing the root bleeding volume and major mineral nutrients content of bleeding sap, which can determine root activity and mineral nutrients in plant operation and accumulation.
