ABSTRACT

The spotlight panel, organized by Robin Rowland, continued the conversations across disciplinary approaches started at the 2011 Alta Conference. The essays here include work by leading researchers in the areas of pragma-dialectics, informal logic, social science, pragmatic approaches, and academic debate. They spoke about a common topic – recent economic debates over fi scal policy – to demonstrate what each approach uniquely offered to the study of argument. As a collection of essays, they offer readers a chance to compare and contrast what different approached to argument can offer.
