Gender, land and agricultural investments in Lao PDR

ByCLARA MI YOUNG PARK AND ELIZABETH DALEY

Since 2008, following initial attention from civil society and the media, largescale land acquisitions and agricultural investments have been increasingly on the research agenda of academics, land rights activists and global development organizations (Anseeuw et al., 2012; Edelman et al., 2013; Oya, 2013). Various aspects of this ‘global land grab’ phenomenon have been analyzed but, with some notable exceptions, gender has received relatively less attention (see Daley, 2011; Behrman et al., 2012; Julia & White, 2012; Daley & Pallas, 2014; Doss et al., 2014).
