The expansion of global economic migration has meant that increasingly, health workers have to relate to the needs of parents from ethnic minorities. Although there are a significant number of British born and educated parents within the United Kingdom (UK), some parents may actively prefer to associate with their cultural customs and choose to adopt traditional methods of child rearing. Others may embrace some of the Western conventions and decide to not to breastfeed or return to work shortly following the birth.
