ABSTRACT

This chapter considers a valid and reliable Sensitivity towards being the target of upward comparison (STTUC) scale that may aid in assessing outperformer's experiences of STTUC. Data analysis involved using a variety of statistical analysis techniques to test the research hypotheses while the empirical objectives were realised by conducting a series of statistical analyses which included item analysis, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to assess the extent to which the data supported the proposed integrated conceptual or theoretical model. The multivariate normality of the data was also examined and non-normality, kurtosis and skewness checked using the criteria of West et al. STTUC should become increasingly important for leadership and organisational behaviour researchers and practitioners. The methods used to deal with missing values were selected based on the conditions that must be assumed when selecting a method and, therefore, criteria for selecting a method were essential.
