ABSTRACT

Utopian love is a relationship of four or more people who romantically pursue the quixotic goal of the perfect social, political and/or spiritual life, by living, working, and loving together.

People tend to point to utopian communities and say, “See? It didn’t last.” But in reality, all loves die, eventually. Love is a magic spark that can ignite a fire of passion and romance, a fire that will sooner or later be extinguished by death, divorce, or circumstance. This does not mean that the love was a failure. Loves have their own life spans. The utopian lovers I present here were/are all successful.
