Author have been managing the WTC Incident Command Center at New York City's medical examiner's (ME) office, since the day of the attacks. A plane just hit the Twin Towers. Everyone in that room ended up working together side by side for a long time, identifying the victims and issuing death certificates to their survivors. Two streams of data began to grow rapidly after the attacks and they merged into a mighty river: The antemortem stream information from the family, artifacts, dental records, family DNA or the actual DNA of the victim and the postmortem stream the remains and associated evidence collected with the remains. Many mental health professionals at the Family Assistance Center campaigned strongly to have the Victim Information Profile (VIP) form filled out by the family on paper with the help of an interviewer who was making eye contact with them.
