ABSTRACT

This article presents a model for assessing the child welfare needs of Chinese families, especially immigrant families from the People’s Republic of China. It explains the meaning of child welfare for Chinese immigrants and contrasts that to North American definitions. The paper also analyzes the nature and functions of Chinese families and explores issues and implications for social welfare practice.
