ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the conceptual basis for neurobehavioural rehabilitation in terms of its historical influences and implications for treatment. The principles underlying assessment and treatment of disability within the neurobehavioural paradigm are summarised, and the core features of the organisation of a neurobehavioural service are outlined. A description of how principles of neurobehavioural rehabilitation are translated into practice will be found in Chapter 7.
