ABSTRACT

In this chapter we briefly review literature addressing visual inspection of graphed single-case data. In doing so, we explore graphics percep tion, considering strategies for enhancing accuracy in visual displays. We review the emergence of applied behavior analysis, present interpre tive methods for visually inspected data in applied behavior analysis, review areas of concern in empirically supporting visual analysis and in relating visual analysis to scientific methods of inference, and discuss

the importance of integrating visual analysis with statistical analysis. Our journey explores interactions of stimulus properties with human information processing. Within this context, we identify strategies for enhancing accuracy in visual display.
