Demographers are predicting that in the United States 33% of all children will live with a stepparent before the age of 18, and stepfamilies will be the predominant type of family form by the year 2010. Since these families are considered to be at risk initially for considerable stress, it is not surprising that therapists are dealing with an increasing number of individuals living in this type of family.
