ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION The primary curriculum in the different countries of the UK has been subject to increasing attention from politicians over the last 25 years. Since political devolution, the curricula of the different countries in the UK has diversified from England’s. In spite of all the controversy and change since 1988, you will see that the curriculum model in England remains very similar to the first statutory curriculum from 1862. Although there were signs that an emphasis on creativity might lead to a new progressivism, things are once again much more uncertain. The unit concludes with a vision for the future primary curriculum.
