A Steadfast Revisit: Keeping with Tradition, in a Different Space and Time

ByJennifer Rowsell

More than 10 years have passed since I first met Dorothy Rajaratnam in a School and Society class during her teacher preparation year. I remember Dorothy well; she sat at the front and side of a windowless room on the fourth floor of the OISE/UT building in Toronto looking alert and keen. This could well be how I cast my memory of her having got to know her over the years. To be sure, Dorothy stood out from the 70 other students as earnest and as an exemplary student-someone who arrived to class early, handed in assignments ahead of time, and helped others. But, again, that is a reality that I have crafted after getting to know her and her story.
