Future Directions for Early Childhood Teacher Education

The Handbook of Early Childhood Teacher Education (ECTE) was undertaken with the intent to bring together, analyze, and articulate the current research and knowledge on preparing teachers to work with children from birth through age 8. Taking broad strokes to refl ect the breadth of the fi eld, our diverse group of authors illuminates the multiple dimensions of infl uence in ECTE. Through their expertise and passionate interest in particular perspectives within the fi eld, chapter authors look deeply at what we know thus far, what we need to explore further, and some promising ways to move forward.
