ABSTRACT

The United Presbyterian Home, located at Woodbury, New York is a dedicated non-sectarian home which provides comprehensive health care and skilled nursing facilities in a tranquil wooded setting. Lifeline Systems was approached to determine if its emergency response services (ERS) could be an answer to UPH’s planned outreach support program. In an aging society, with rapidly increasing medical and housing costs, a Lifeline to elderly and frail persons at a modest cost was considered a godsend. The communicator equipment used by UPH is the RC400. Lifetrac software, AccPac, and a Wang word processor are also used. The Lifeline Emergency Response Service program was the first community outreach service sponsored by the United Presbyterian Home. The 1980 National Census provided many interesting local facts regarding the economic condition of the population. The benefits of Emergency Response Services have been found to be spread over a wide spectrum of human concern.
