When a lord died his wife, even if her husband could not be buried for six months, did not leave the house where she was when her husband died to go her houses in other places or elsewhere on the estate ; she did not so much as go into the courtyard, nor yet to the table for luncheon or dinner, but remained in that room and ate there. Even after the funeral she did not go into the room where he had died, and the pious wife never went into that room during the rest of her life .
