Keeper of the Keys: Years 3–6
The prime purpose of this chapter is to look at how it is possible to use a dramatic game to explore meanings beyond the literal through playful, interactive explorations of metaphor and symbolism.
The example also illustrates how one might use a game to:
n create a ‘back story’ as a basis for drama; and as a stimulus for storytelling and creative writing;
n demonstrate how to manipulate dramatic tension;
n encourage and develop listening skills;
n develop roles and narrative within a game and expand them into a drama;
n develop scripts from improvised drama.
