ABSTRACT

We didn't know very well what was going on when the teacher-specialist came. The director had told us she was coming but we didn't understand very clearly what would happen. What's more, we were rather suspicious because we had had many native speaker volunteers in the past but they hadn't been any more skilled than us. So when she first came we just waited to see what would happen. She had to prove herself to us as our staff development facilitator. By getting to know her, talking to her, watching her teach and attending her workshops, we gradually became aware that we could learn a lot, and how exciting it was in terms of our personal and professional development.
