One of the strongest pieces of evidence for children’s trust in testimony is their belief in the existence of ordinarily unobservable special beings such as the Tooth Fairy or God as well as invisible, scientific entities such as germs and oxygen. In earlier work, we established that 5-and 6-year-olds are quite confident of the existence of all of these invisible entities (Harris, Pasquini, Duke, Asscher, & Pons, 2006).
