Results of the IUPsyS survey on psychology education and training worldwide

ByMARTIN PINQUART AND ALLAN B. I. BERNARDO

Although few books have been published that aimed at providing an overview of teaching psychology internationally, authors from a small number of countries contributed their experience to that work (McCarthy et al., 2007, 2009, 2012). In addition, papers on the teaching of psychology from a number of countries have been published in psychological journals (e.g., the special issue of the International Journal of Psychology on International Practices in the Teaching of Psychology from 2006) but their contents are diffi cult to compare across countries. Results from an earlier survey on psychology training from 28 members of the International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) from 1990/1991 (Nixon, 1994) have become outdated because the systems of teaching psychology changed over time.
