International frameworks for psychology education and training: overarching issues and principles

Introduction Around the world there are well over 4,000 psychology education and training programs in colleges, universities and professional schools. These programs exist in faculties, schools, departments, and sub-departments, and are categorized within their larger institutional structure as arts, humanities, social sciences, educational sciences, human sciences, business or medicine.1 Programs offer degrees with a multitude of names, specialties and implied scope, and prepare students for entry-level research, practice and application in schools, universities, labs, communities and businesses.
