ABSTRACT

All leaders use networks to seek advice, discuss ideas, and improve their ability to fulfill the responsibilities of their positions. These networks often consist of mentors, coaches, peers, and experts in various fields. Contacts may also include community leaders, friends, and colleagues from professional and civic organizations. After choosing skill and experience activities, service activities, and local project(s), the intern should cite key persons that he or she plans to work with, interview, and/or use for help and assistance with the internship. Resource persons should give their permission, means of communication (phone, e-mail), and times available. Some interns find it more efficient to collect and maintain a file of business cards. The documented resource network will be presented at the final internship summary report.
