ABSTRACT

The subject is completely adulterated by the media and appears linked to an image of Europe and the United States which is very much in keeping with the superficiality of things—it can be a fashion or a culinary style—all of which results in a certain resistance. The social sciences are experiencing the creation of new social objects, but when a profound question of cultural transformation suddenly appears, they cannot process it. In the urban area, and in the youth culture, it's a permanent fixture—although they aren't aware of it—but there are already thousands upon thousands of them who are living a kind of very strong postmodern existence in the behavior, relationships, values, in the relationship with popular culture, and, moreover, in the existential confrontation with the world. Buenos Aires, are the only example of those who have formed a group which works on the problem of postmodernity.
