ABSTRACT
London-based photographer Carmel King spent two weeks in Harlem, the capital of African American life and culture, during the November 2008 presidential election. She photographed and interviewed local residents on election day and the day after. On the evening of 4 November, hundreds gathered on 125th Street to wait for the results to appear on a JumboTron screen.
